Since the 1979/80 winter term, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has supported the ISAP exchange programme with the University of Waterloo (UW), Ontario, Canada, with scholarships. The purpose of the programme is essentially to give students at the UW and Technische Universität Braunschweig a better understanding of the other country and its residents. The technical benefit of the exchange programme is that it allows Braunschweig students to continue their studies at one of the most renowned technical universities of North America without delay. This academic year is a valuable, enriching life experience from both a professional and a personal standpoint.
During the one-year study period, 12 lectures are generally attended and related examinations taken. Alternatively, nine lectures and one student research project can be recognised as credits. Lecture-related examinations are accredited as specialist examinations. Since the curriculum is technically approved prior to the year abroad, recognition of the study credits is guaranteed. As the number of ISAP scholarships is limited, only high-calibre students are invited to participate in the programme.
